The Whirling Eddys, a well-known quartet from Dunedin, have been performing since 1994 with the current line-up playing together since 2005. They specialise in classic blues, soul, rock’n’roll and popular song from the fifties through to the seventies, together with their crafted originals. In other words, eclectic. This is bound to be a fascinating exploration of how this unique group functions, and how rhythm, groove and improvisation combine to create the Eddys characteristic sound.

To the Heartland is a collection of twelve of Stephen’s most notable songs. They represent his personal experiences and relationships – within the dramatic landscapes of southern New Zealand. He recorded the songs with his old mates Rob Piggott, Denis Gibbins, and John Fielding.
